Last week Linda and I had a great weekend! We traveled together down to Cedar City to watch Tara graduate with her Masters Degree. We had a great time and did quite a bit of talking and laughing.
After the graduation, Linda and I stopped to get a little lunch before we started back home. There was a small line so we settled down to wait our turn. An older woman came and sat by us and started talking. In just a few short minutes we had heard a brief abbreviated history of her life, including that she had come to Cedar City to see the graduation of her grandchild and their spouse. She pointed them out including two young children that were clinging to their legs. She proudly declared that she was the great-grandma of the two little ones.
Not to be outdone, Linda mentioned Tara's graduation and that her own two adorable grandchildren had been present as well. The lady congratulated her and then turned to me and asked "So, are you the great-grandma like me?"
(sigh)

Mom, that one takes the cake! I'll bet it even stung worse than when you were thought to be the twins grandmother at JC Penny.
Just tell yourself that old lady was senile. :)
Here's a tip for that lady:
If you don't know...don't assume.
I've put my foot in my mouth too many times when I assumed something.
Janell,
It hurts every time I think of it. I thought, "How could you ruin a perfectly wonderful trip." I may have lost my sister. I must admit the picture is funny. Thanks again for going with me.
She was probably blind or something! Was she carrying a white cane?
I just remembered my worst comment ever. I was visiting Terresa in the hospital after Jayson was born. He and Abby are only two months apart. Her visiting teachers asked me if I was the Grandma. I was 7 months pregnant at the time and I thought--"I hate you two!" haha
In reality, this one really made me laugh. Linda, you were so shocked and leaped to my defense so quickly. She was so busy telling us her life story that the only thing catching her attention was my gray hair. :-)
