What's Up Doc! - Carrot Harvest 2014

With all the things going on this summer, the garden was pretty low on the priority list. However, we did get carrots planted in the new grow boxes Kevin put in last year.

Kimberly and Alicia were here this weekend and helped with the harvest. They were pretty excited by our one "Goliath" carrot.

As I watched them digging and cleaning the carrots, I was reminded of a time 30+ years ago when their dad helped with our very first carrot harvest. The memory definitely brought smiles.

Turning 60

In spite of misgivings about turning 60, I've had a couple of wonderful weeks being loved and pampered. The days prior to my birthday were filled with daily surprises from my children. 

WEEK 1

A game night and Sentsy - from John's family

Ken also had a surprise every night that week: bulbs for my yard, a new set of every day glasses, balloons, blackberry soda, truffles, a great birthday dinner and last but not least, a beautiful vase I had admired at the BYU Art Museum.

My sisters planned a birthday weekend - Games, food, laughter, projects and even a sleep over!

Well, winter definitely made it's presence felt this last weekend! Single digit temperatures and lots of snow! In fact, the roads were so bad we even missed the Barker Christmas party. :-(

Thanksgiving 2013

I've been very lax in posting this last year. Lots of reasons but I guess they're really just excuses.  Time to get back into the swing of normal life (whatever normal is :-).

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Because I always connect this holiday with family, it is a special holiday to me. With only John & Justin's family this year, we had a small crowd. In fact, small enough to get out my china! It was fun watching the little girls toast each other with their goblets. :-) 

 

This holiday is a reminder of my many blessings and I want each of you to know how grateful I am to have you in my life.
