Yellowstone -- Brrrrr!

We've just returned from several wonderful days in Yellowstone National Park! Brrrrrr! But what fun! We had perfect traveling weather from Utah to Yellowstone, arriving on Thursday. We spent Friday traveling by Snowcat through the park with temperatures in the 20's but the sun was shining and there was no wind! We had a great guide that told us more about the park than either of us could possibly remember but it was fascinating. The park was beautiful and the day was perfect! We even were caught on the webcam at Old Faithful! (picture courtesy of Michael and his computer - the red letters say "Dad" and "Mom".)

Nature chose for a tool, not the earthquake or lightning to rend and split asunder, not the stormy torrent or eroding rain, but the tender snow--flowers noiselessly falling through unnumbered centuries. - John Muir

Those who dwell among the beauties and mysteries of the earth are never alone or weary of life. - Rachel Carson.

When snow falls, nature listens. - Antoinette van Kleeff

I go to nature to be soothed and healed, and to have my senses put in order. - John Burroughs

Q - What do you call an old Grizzley Bear without any teeth?
A - A gummy bear!

Lots of love to you all!

What Fun!!! I am glad you were able to see and do a lot of fun things despite the cold and snow. We are looking forward to our Yellowstone strip, although our plans are a bit on hold as John now only has 2 weeks of vacation time - and that includes his sick time...grrr...he will only have 4 days accumulated by June, which means I get to drive by myself up to the Meldrum reunion, and he will fly up on the weekend. As for Yellowstone, we might have to go next year :( We're bummed.

That makes Hawaii all the more special! Since Yellowstone has been around for "thousands" of years (according to our guide) I guess it will still be there next year. :-)

Looks so fun and cold. I can't believe that you find all the inspirational quotes to go with your pictures. I am lucky to write anything at all! I am amazed by you.

I love the quote about snow falling and nature listening. It really does seem like that, like the world hushes when it snows. I love it...

...but this year, enough is enough. I'm ready for spring.

I love your thoughts. I need to spend more time recording the feelings of the heart and less about what I've done!
