Lamenting My Loss :-)

This last week we had a “tragic” event. The main DVR unit from our satellite dish decided to quit working and we found ourselves without TV. More importantly, we found ourselves without the ability to record programs since the DVR was our method of recording.

Kevin, Tammy and I were discussing our fate, with each of us lamenting the programs we would lose while waiting for a new unit to be shipped. Suddenly it dawned on me that we would be without the DVR on Sunday which meant I would miss Silent Movie Night on Turner Classic Movie channel. Sadly, a silent film I had been anticipating for several months was finally being shown and I was going to miss it! This particular movie, Nosferatu, was a German silent horror film from 1922 and the oldest film in existence known to feature the classic story of Dracula.

As I was lamenting my loss, I suddenly realized that both Kevin and Tammy were looking at me in disbelief and then Kevin asked with complete amazement, “A silent horror flick!?! You mean like this?” With that he gave a horrified pose, miming a scream. Tammy and I were so shocked that we just stared at him in silence for a few moments and then we all burst out laughing. According to Kevin, a silent horror film could not be THAT scary! :-)

NOTE: Although I’ve tried to get Kevin to recreate the pose so I could include it on my blog, the picture just didn’t turn out the same. I guess you had to be there! :-)

We haven't had our DVR for a few month now given the room where it is wired it the one we've gutted. Randal is hooking up the TV again tonight. There's no furniture in there but at this point I'll be happy with a lawn chair!

I'm willing to bet I won't be watching any silent movies though. Although Kevin's rendition would be entertaining!

I'm with Kevin regarding the fact that it couldn't possibly be that scary. Sorry for your pain though!

Do they still rent videos like that?
