My Daughters

Last night we had the wonderful opportunity to attend opening night of a Stake Musical where our daughter, Gail, had a main role. The music was enjoyable and it was obvious that those participating had put in a lot of work to prepare for their performance. It was especially fun to watch our grandchildren and their excitement whenever their Mom would come on stage. We were so thrilled that Gail had chosen to take the time to be part of this special production.

Last evening reminded me how much I love my family. As a mother who at one time had only five sons and two daughters, I was thrilled when my married sons and daughter brought three new wonderful daughters and one new son into my life. I couldn’t have chosen better for each of them!

Today I've been thinking a great deal about my five daughters (Marian, Dana, Gail, Delores and Tamara). They are such special women with so many varied talents. Two of them are pianists as well as flutists, and one attended college on a dance scholarship. More than one of them has a beautiful singing voice and several have been a part of a stage production of some kind. They are wonderful cooks, which I know their families appreciate! One has written a book and one has been a journalist for a major newspaper. Some crochet while others do intricate bead work, knit, cross stitch, or sew. We’ve been the recipients of some exceptional handwork! Others have created beautiful scrapbooks, flower arrangements, photography or other artwork. They’ve taken an active role in their homes with decorating, painting and even furniture refinishing. And recently one has even added welding! And this would certainly not be a complete or final list! They always seem to be learning or trying something new.

They’ve served others in many ways: not only their family and friends but in their neighborhoods and communities, in the schools with their children, and in their church in various callings in Primary, Young Women and Relief Society, and one has even served on a Mission.

More importantly, they live their lives with integrity and commitment: to their schooling, their homes, their family, their husband and their children, and with great dedication, to their God! I am humbled as I watch them live their lives. They are truly Daughters of God! I love them each very much and am grateful to be a part of their lives.

Thanks Mom! I love that you and dad have welcomed us in with loving arms. I love being a part of the Rimington family and am also amazed at the accomplishments of all.

I feel the same way about my FOUR daughters. Not only are they talented, I have learned so much from them. Like you, I am truly blessed!

Thanks Mom. Although you are clearly not talking about me when it comes to musicality.

Okay, I am not reading your blog any more because I always end up teary eyed, well except for the helicopter pad one. Love you!
