Christmas held many surprises this year but none so shocking as the restoration of the old green bookshelves by Kevin and Tammy. Having been around since my childhood, the shelves have undergone many transformations including the bright green paint with antiquing that was done before it even moved to our home. Always a favorite, it started as a shelf for children's books but somewhere along the way it moved to holding Ken's tools during various household projects. Part of the scalloped molding broke off, the back disappeared and the gouges and scratches were so deep I was sure it would never be a nice piece of furniture again. Unknown to me, my children decided otherwise and took on the difficult task of restoring the shelves. During the days before Christmas the garage was filled with sounds of power tools and several possibilities crossed my mind but never the shelves! Gone is the green paint and the molding has miraculously been replaced! Although a few more details remain to be finished, I couldn’t be happier and am grateful for their hard work.

It is a gorgeous bookshelf now. I took a picture when you received it, Christmas morning, from the twins. Don't worry I didn't get your tears, even though there were some.
I'll email it to you. You should add it to this post so that everyone can see what a good job they did. Although Tammy in her red bathrobe is seems to be the true focal point. :)
