Highlights of our trip included not one . . . not two . . . but three temples! How lucky can you be! :-)
While on the Big Island of Hawaii, we were able to do a session in the Kona, Hawaii Temple. As one of the smaller temples, we needed to make reservations in advance. While there, we actually met several others from Utah who were also visiting the islands. One interesting thing happened at the dock as we were getting off the boat. We were carrying our temple bags but otherwise, we thought we looked like tourists. Our reservation wasn't until 1:00 so we were casuall
y dressed and had brought our dress clothes to change into later. One of the security personnel as we left the boat looked pointedly at our bags and asked if we were LDS and were we going to the temple!

Laie, Hawaii TempleWhile on the island of Oahu, we were able to visit the Laie Temple. This one is currently being rennovated so we were unable to go inside but the grounds were beautiful wit
h flowers everwhere. As we toured the Visitor's Center, I was surprised to find out that this is one of the oldest LDS Temples. Built in 1919, this was the fifth temple to be completed and is actually 90 years old!
And last but not least, we were in the final days of our trip during General Confere
nce. Kevin called us and played President Monson's announcement of the new temples. Imagine our reaction to the news that there was to be a temple built in Brigham City! As you can probably guess, the speculation as to where it will be is running rampant and everyone has their own theory. Even the Box Elder Journal listed the story of the new temple on the front page with a great big "?" as to its location. :-) Needless to say, we're pretty excited!
